Owner and Lead Obedience Instructor Rachel Fairman began her career in canine services in the way that most obedience instructors do… she rescued a difficult dog.

After unsuccessfully trying several “one size fits all” training facilities, she decided to take it upon herself to learn more about canine behaviour and obedience training in an effort to see where the process was going wrong with this individual dog.

This began by reading countless books on the various styles of dog training and eventually progressed into the study of canine conditioning, training and health through ICS Canada; where upon completing their Dog Obedience Trainer/Instructor program, she received a diploma with honours.

At Ms. Skorochod’s facility, Time and Patience Ltd., in Toronto ON, Rachel had the opportunity to contribute to their Puppy play dates, as well as the Basic, Correct and Off Leash Companion classes. She was also privileged enough to participate in the behaviour modification sessions of several private clients before her life brought her to the Ottawa area. Her experiences under Ms. Skorochod’s tutelage were invaluable and she will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and inspiring educator.

Nevertheless Rachel believes life is a lifelong learning process for both dogs and people, and as such, she continues to grow and evolve her knowledge of canine behaviours and training techniques by attending a variety of courses and seminars held by the various local and international canine organizations.
